THE VIDPRO CHARTER

Vidpro’s vidprotalk mailing list is the premier mailing list for video and television professionals. It is an open forum discussion list, but you must first subscribe in order to post to the list, and receive messages from other subscribers.

Vidpro subscribers range from seasoned professionals in the television industry to students with a desire to be video producers, and whatever else falls in between. The listowner is Betty Wills.  Vidpro is actually maintained by humans, so if you have any questions about the list, or subscription procedures, send an email to vidprolistmarm@yahoogroups.com.

LIST ETIQUETTE: We ask that subscribers be as courteous and respectful to one another when posting to the list as they would be if they were conversing face to face. Flames are highly discouraged, profanity is not allowed, and tiffs are to be taken off the list. Subscribers can post just about anything they wish as long as it relates to the television and video industry, to include such things as job announcements, technical evaluations, product reviews, equipment wanted requests, used equipment for sale, how to advice, opinions, and so on . An occasional cordial is also acceptable, but we ask that such postings be kept to a minimum, and that the words "off topic" be included in the SUBJECT header as a courtesy to the other subscribers.

TIPS FOR POSTING: Make sure the SUBJECT line includes keywords that define your post. For example...if you are discussing digital cameras, then include those words in the SUBJECT line. Following this simple guideline will prove helpful in categorizing the ARCHIVES by topic for later reference, and will allow others on the list to more easily filter posts.

COMMANDS such as UNSUBSCRIBE, and SET, etc., are to be sent to the server, (pending), and not to the subscription list. Only posts to other subscribers are to be sent to the list.  The easiest way to handle commands is from the website interface .  You can even send posts from there after you join Yahoo! Groups.

Remember, when you send commands to Listserv, you must precede your sig line with two dashes [ -- ] on a separate line above it, or eliminate the sig line altogether, otherwise the server will try to interpret your sig line as part of the command.

Please bookmark this website for future reference, especially if this is the first time you have subscribed to an electronic mailing list.

Again, the easiest way to handle your subcription is from the website interface  as shown above.
